The U.S. Federal Highway Administration has released a technical brief that identifies lessons learned from alternative contracting methods, including construction manager/general contractor, design–build, and alternative technical concepts. This report provides guidance for state departments of transportation to determine when to use alternative contracting methods to maximize project objectives with regards to cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
